Do I need a domain name?

Yes, you will need a domain name to activate your mailbox and set up your email address.

Which devices can I use to read my emails?

As well as any computer, iOS (iPhone, iPod and iPad), Android and Windows phones are all supported and synchronised from the same email server using both protocols concurrently.

Do I need web hosting with you?

No, you can use our email only plan without having any web hosting with us. This is a dedicated product that doesn't rely on any web hosting to work, although if you required hosting for a website at a later date then this can be done from your admin area. Please bear in mind that if you purchase hosting then mailboxes will be included with your package.

Can I transfer in emails?

Yes you can, there are several ways to do this and we have a tool that can be used to help if required. Just get in touch and we'll do our best to advise on the best method.

How many mailbox accounts can I buy?

You can buy as many as you want depending on what you need. The mailboxes are domain dependent so you can buy one package per domain. If you require multiple email accounts per domain then you can have as many as you want as long as the allowance for all mailboxes doesn't exceed the storage limit. You can allocate the space for each mailbox manually when the mailbox is created.

How big are the mailboxes?

For the email only hosting accounts, mailboxes can be whatever size you like as these are allocated by the user upon mailbox creation. Just bear in mind that allocation cannot exceed the total storage included with your plan.

Can I use auto-responders?

We no longer offer this service as it causes spam backscatter issues and blacklisting as a consequence. The last thing you want to do is send a spammer a message with all your details telling them you're on holiday.

Great customer service!

I've had a business email package with Ecohosting for several years and this has been reliable and easy to use, with just the right number of email addresses and storage for my needs. And at a very reasonable cost too. But I think it's the customer service that makes this company stand out – I've always found this very speedy and helpful, with staff members taking time to understand the query and provide additional help beyond what I expected. For example, I raised a query asking for help with email configuration and received a reply within 12 minutes to say that the changes had been made. This really was excellent service.

Very helpful and responsive

Very helpful and responsive. A client of mine had their email to my business account with Ecohosting bounce back to them with an error message. Ecohosting investigated and were able to determine quickly the fault was a rDNS issue on my client's end. They also kindly provided details of what my client needed to tell their own email provider to do to resolve the issue.

Sharon

Comprehensive email service with great support

With so many bad actors trying to disrupt the internet and especially electronic communications, it requires a comprehensive service with good support tools and helpful staff to ensure that valid emails succeed and spam is effectively trapped. The Ecohosting mail service provides exactly what is required, and if help is needed it is always available from a great bunch of support staff.

Email Hosting FAQ

POP3 means Post Office Protocol version 3. When you receive emails using this protocol you can then download them to your computer or device locally using an email client such as Outlook, Thunderbird or Mac OS X Mail.

IMAP or Internet Message Access Protocol is a mailbox that allows you to access emails that are stored on mail servers rather than download them to your computer or device. This means that you can run the same account from different locations and devices. When it's read in one device it will sync and show as read in all devices.
